URV joins a European project to develop key technologies for future 6G networks
By on June 16, 2026
Researchers from the CloudLab group at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) are participating in SIXG, a new European research project focused on developing core technologies for future 6G communication networks. The initiative aims to improve the way large volumes of data are processed and distributed, enabling faster, more efficient, and more sustainable digital services for applications such as smart industry, autonomous systems, and real-time artificial intelligence.
The project will investigate advanced serverless computing technologies that allow applications to run dynamically across cloud, edge, and distributed infrastructures without requiring direct management of computing resources. By combining expertise from several European partners, SIXG seeks to create scalable solutions capable of meeting the demanding performance, latency, and energy-efficiency requirements expected from next-generation 6G ecosystems.
